2008年11月，深圳被UNESCO授予“设计之都”称号，建筑设计特色在其中的作用不可小觑。目前记录深圳城市建筑的汇编性出版物较少，专业性较强，难以在普通大众中推广普及，迫切需要一本以深入浅出的方式汇集建筑信息的导览书籍，以引发公众的兴趣，提升城市的建筑审美修养。
