General and Specific Experience of Old City Reconstruction (Urban Renewal)

SUMMARY：
Instead of completely solving all housing problems, urban renewal only leads to gentrification of the city center. If such situation continues, the city center will become a place where only the wealthy can afford to live. Is this the city we want to build?
夏铸九
逢甲大学建筑学系毕业、美国耶鲁大学建筑硕士、美国哈佛大学都市设计硕士、美国伯克莱加州大学建筑博士，是台湾建筑学家，曾任教台湾大学土木工程系、东海大学建筑系等，曾为台湾大学建筑与城乡研究所所长。夏铸九长期致力于都市计划、古迹保存、城市设计等研究，共著论数十篇。他早年师事台湾建筑学家汉宝德，颇受其影响。后赴美进修，受当代（1960年代）美国社会运动影响至深。返台任教后，1989年协助台湾大学成立建筑与城乡研究所。
