SUMMARY:

Xiangmi Lake, located to the south of the Building of Shenzhen Center for Design, a space between the spectrum of formal and the informal, has been transformed into restaurants and barbecue stalls from a previous famous theme park operating in the 1980s and 1990s. It has become the most popular food street in Shenzhen now. There were already many studies on informal space from both foreign and domestic cities, such as Three Rules against Violating Regulations, a book studying Taipei, Invisible Logic, a book studying Hong Kong, Made in Tokyo, a book studying Tokyo, Beijing Parkour, a book studying Beijing and books like Learning from Las Vegas, Architecture Without Architects, Barefoot Architect, The Other Path, etc. What would be Shenzhen's contributions to research on informal space? What was the uniqueness of "made in Shenzhen"? This Cool Chat invited guests to share their ideas after reading these books.
