SUMMARY:

Once a student of Rem Koolhaas, Alejandro Zaera-Polo is a pioneer in parametric design. As a world-famous architect for his exploration and outstanding achievements in architectural surface, he has been insisting that buildings should be as natural as something growing from the land. In this review, Alejandro shared a series of projects he participated in, such as Yokohama International Port Terminal and Pasaia Fish Market. These cases exemplified the way to apply technologies to the calculation of architectural surfaces and fluids, and emphasized the interaction and communication between nature, environment and people. He showed us the opportunities for waterfront cities and architectural design, as well as the interesting parts and key points of them.
