SUMMARY：

Donald Bates is one of the founders of LAB Architects, which is renowned around the world for its innovative and dynamic design, and deep understanding of regional differences, traditional customs, market conditions, construction regulations, technology applications, sustainability and low carbon. In this review, Donald Bates shared cases which reflected the core design principles of LAB, including Federal Square and the planning of West Taihu New Town. Mr. Bates put forward his views on how to implement the concept of sustainable and low-carbon development at the beginning of the planning, as well as on how to make the city a diversified and pleasant place to live in.
