SUMMARY:

The mileage of the current rail transit system totals 178 kilometers, with daily passengers surpassing 3million, making it an indispensable part of the city transport system. However, the “last mile” of the existing rail transit system are faced with multiple problems such as poor quality of public space and unsophisticated walking and cycling connection system, affecting passengers' choices of transport. Therefore, there is an urgent need for systematic modifications to the original plan, to further optimize the public space design and transport connection layout around rail stations. Entrusted by the Urban Transport Office of the Urban Palnning Land & Resources Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, the Shenzhen City for Design and the Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center jointly completed the “last mile”project.
