PSPL Survey (Public Space & Public Life Survey) is a method to evaluate the quality of public life and urban public space. It aims to discover and understand people's activities and behavior patterns in public space. Combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, PSPL Survey tries to provide supports for urban public space design and reconstruction, which is expected to bring about public space of high quality that could satisfy citizens’ need to lead a better public life. This article tends to give a brief introduction to the goals, content and specific methods of PSPL Survey, hoping to offer references to uplifting the quality of urban public spaces.
