In recent years, the rough and short-term construction of a large number of permanent urban sculptures has brought about various problems. The research project of Revision of Master Planning of Urban Sculpture in Shenzhen analyzed the causes for problems in the generation, construction, funding sources and post-maintenance of urban sculptures, while proposing corresponding suggestions. Shenzhen Center for Public Art hoped to take this project as an opportunity to promote the development of public art in Shenzhen and to propel the gradual standardization of funds, construction and management of public art through continuous activities, thus gradually increasing the public  concern for and participation in public art.
