Huaqiang Idea Park was located in the northeast of Guangmingcheng Railway Station, which was a gateway area for the future development of Guangming New District. Adjacent to the main urban road Guangqiao Road on the east and Guanguang Road on the south, its total land area mesured up to 23 hectares. Recently enterprises were entrusting SWA to carry out plot concept planning. For the future development of the gateway area, Guangming Government and Urban Planning & Committee of Shenzhen Municipality entrusted Shenzhen Center for Design to participate in the International New Town Institute (INTI) project as early as December 2012 and proposed the “ultra-low impact/multi-ground city” model to replace the conventional nature-destructive “several infrastructure and one leveling” model through a series of research of “Sino-Dutch New New Town International Workshop”. As the first development project in the gateway area, methods of realizing this new model of Huaqiang Idea Park was the main concern of this discussion.
