SUMMARY:

While protecting the historic buildings, the “urban purple line” (protection line for historical and cultural sites) has also become an insurmountable gap. Various restrictions have in some way separated the historical and cultural blocks and buildings within the purple line from other parts of the city. Faced with the growing enthusiasm of real estate development of the surrounding areas, problems of maintaining the value of the cultural relics, harmonizing their relationship with the surrounding areas, co-ordinating the interests of all parties, and shaping the regional characteristics need to be considered SCD discussed these issues based on the Research on Urban Design of Surrounding Areas of Wanshi Habitat project commissioned by Pingshan Administration, Urban Planning, Land & Resources Commission of Shenzhen Municipality.
