Since the success of 2011 Summer Universiade, Shenzhen University Game Center has been facing problems such as facility lack, single function, and high operating costs. Entrusted by the operator Kaisa Group, Design Center would jointly organize a full-day workshop with Longgang Administration, Urban Planning, Land & Resources Commission to discuss the possibility of reutilization of the Center and to explore a corresponding architectural form. The Game Center was located at the core area of Universiade New Town in Longgang District, with a total area of 520,000 square meters, including stadiums, gymnasiums and swimming pools. According to field experience and questionnaires, the respondents had great demand for basic commercial facilities as it was very difficult to find a restaurant or even buy waters at the Game Center. As its operator, Kaisa Group developed a supporting design for No. 3 plot and explored the possibility of reutilization in accordance with the positioning of the Game Center.
